Maps from 1942 of the never-was Nazi invasion of North America
These diagrams from the March 2, 1942 issue of Life detailed the Nazi invasion of America shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Check out such alternate reality battles like the bombing of Detroit and invasion of Norfolk, Virginia.
These maps were created as a follow-up to an article about an American defeat in WWII by pioneering science fiction author Philip Wylie, who wrote the proto-superhero novel Gladiator

about 1 year ago - No comments
Morgellons Disease
about 1 year ago - No comments
Morgellons disease is a mysterious skin disorder characterized by disfiguring sores and crawling sensations on and under the skin. Although Morgellons disease isn’t widely recognized as a medical diagnosis, experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating reports of the condition, which they refer to as unexplained dermopathy.
If you suspect that you have Morgellons disease, you may have many questions about the condition. Here’s what you need to know about Morgellons disease, including practical tips for managing your signs and symptoms.
What are the signs and symptoms of Morgellons disease?
People who have Morgellons disease report the following signs and symptoms:
- Skin rashes or sores that can cause intense itching
- Crawling sensations on and under the skin, often compared to insects moving, stinging or biting
- Fibers, threads or black stringy material in and on the skin
- Severe fatigue
- Inability to concentrate and short-term memory loss
- Behavioral changes
- Joint pain
- Vision changes
Morgellons disease shares characteristics with various recognized conditions, including Lyme disease, liver or kidney disease, schizophrenia, drug or alcohol abuse, and a mental illness involving false beliefs about infestation by parasites (delusional parasitosis).
How widespread is Morgellons disease?
Reports of Morgellons disease have been made in every state in the United States and 15 countries around the world. Most reported cases are clustered in California, Texas and Florida.
What do researchers know about Morgellons disease?
Beyond anecdotal reports, researchers know little about Morgellons disease. The CDC reports no known causes of Morgellons disease and no successful treatment for the condition. Whether Morgellons disease is contagious remains a mystery.
How controversial is Morgellons disease?
Current attitudes toward Morgellons disease fall into various categories:
- Some health professionals believe that Morgellons disease is a specific condition that needs to be confirmed by future research.
- Some health professionals believe that signs and symptoms of Morgellons disease are caused by another condition, often mental illness.
- Other health professionals don’t acknowledge Morgellons disease or are reserving judgment until more is known about the condition.
Some people who suspect Morgellons disease claim they’ve been ignored, criticized as delusional or dismissed as fakers. In contrast, some doctors say that people who report signs and symptoms of Morgellons disease typically resist other explanations for their condition.
How can you cope with the signs and symptoms of Morgellons disease?
The signs and symptoms linked to Morgellons disease can be distressing. Even though health professionals disagree about the nature of the condition, you deserve compassionate treatment. While research continues, take positive steps to manage your signs and symptoms.
- Establish a caring health care team. Find a doctor who acknowledges your concerns and does a thorough examination. Since Morgellons disease often requires frequent follow-up visits, a local health care team may be most convenient.
- Be patient. Your doctor will likely look for known conditions that point to evidence-based treatments before considering a diagnosis of Morgellons disease.
- Keep an open mind. Consider various causes for your signs and symptoms, and follow your doctor’s recommendations for treatment — which may include long-term mental health therapy.
- Seek treatment for other conditions. Get treatment for anxiety, depression or any other condition that affects your thinking, moods or behavior.
- Keep track of the latest news about Morgellons disease. Supplement the information you find online with articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Remember that some sources are more reputable than are others.
Preţul benzinei a luat foc la sfârşit de an
about 1 year ago - No comments
about 1 year ago - No comments
Nikola Tesla
about 1 year ago - No comments
Tesla inherited from his father a deep hatred of war. Throughout his life, he sought a technological way to end warfare. He thought that war could be converted into, “a mere spectacle of machines.”
In 1931 Tesla announced to reporters at a press conference that he was on the verge of discovering an entirely new source of energy. Asked to explain the nature of the power, he replied, “The idea first came upon me as a tremendous shock… I can only say at this time that it will come from an entirely new and unsuspected source.”
War clouds were again darkening Europe. On 11 July 1934 the headline on the front page of the New York Times read, “TESLA, AT 78, BARES NEW ‘DEATH BEAM.’” The article reported that the new invention “will send concentrated beams of particles through the free air, of such tremendous energy that they will bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy airplanes at a distance of 250 miles…” Tesla stated that the death beam would make war impossible by offering every country an “invisible Chinese wall.”
The idea generated considerable interest and controversy. Tesla went immediately to J. P. Morgan, Jr. in search of financing to build a prototype of his invention. Morgan was unconvinced. Tesla also attempted to deal directly with Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain of Great Britain. But when Chamberlain resigned upon discovering that he had been out-maneuvered by Hitler at Munich, interest in Tesla’s anti-war weapon eventually collapsed.
By 1937 it was clear that war would soon break out in Europe. Frustrated in his attempts to generate interest and financing for his “peace beam,” he sent an elaborate technical paper, including diagrams, to a number of Allied nations including the United States, Canada, England, France, the Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia. Titled “New Art of Projecting Concentrated Non-Dispersive Energy Through Natural Media,” the paper provided the first technical description of what is today called a charged particle beam weapon.
What set Tesla’s proposal apart from the usual run of fantasy “death rays” was a unique vacuum chamber with one end open to the atmosphere. Tesla devised a unique vacuum seal by directing a high-velocity air stream at the tip of his gun to maintain “high vacua.” The necessary pumping action would be accomplished with a large Tesla turbine.
Of all the countries to receive Tesla’s proposal, the greatest interest came from the Soviet Union. In 1937 Tesla presented a plan to the Amtorg Trading Corporation, an alleged Soviet arms front in New York City. Two years later, in 1939, one stage of the plan was tested in the USSR and Tesla received a check for $25,000.
Tesla hoped that his invention would be used for purely defensive purposes, and thus would become an anti-war machine. His system required a series of power plants located along a country’s coast that would scan the skies in search of enemy aircraft. Since the beam was projected in a straight line, it was only effective for about 200 miles — the distance of the curvature of the earth.
Tesla also contemplated peacetime applications for his particle beam, one being to transmit power without wires over long distances. Another radical notion he proposed was to heat up portions of the upper atmosphere to light the sky at night — a man-made aurora borealis.
to be continued…
The Angel Of Death And The Twins of Auschwitz
about 1 year ago - No comments
Josef Mengele was a Nazi scientist involved in their famous genetics program that had the task of creating a master race of Aryan people. The job for Mengele, or the ‘Angel of Death’ as he was affectionately know, was to find ways to increase the chances of a mother giving birth to twins. While working at Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Mengele did a number of particularly brutal experiments on twins; most died ether as a result of the surgery or of infected wounds later on.
One night, the Angel of death lived up to his name when he rounded up 14 pairs of twins and put them to sleep in his operating theatre.
He then injected chloroform directly into their hearts instantly killing them and proceeded to dissect them, taking notes on each piece of their bodies as meticulous autopsies were an important part of the experiments for Mengele.
In another bizarre experiment, he took a set of gypsy twins and sewed them together in order to create conjoined twins, surgically removing parts of the veins on their hands in the process and leaving them both with gangrene. One twin who survived being in the care of the doctor recalled how his brother came to lose his life;
“Dr. Mengele had always been more interested in Tibi. I am not sure why, perhaps because he was the older twin. Mengele made several operations on Tibi. One surgery on his spine left my brother paralyzed. He could not walk anymore. Then they took out his sexual organs. After the fourth operation, I did not see Tibi anymore. I cannot tell you how I felt. It is impossible to put into words how I felt. They had taken away my father, my mother, my two older brothers and now, my twin.”
The twins of Auschwitz were housed in more comfortable barracks than other prisoners, were better fed and were safe from the gas chambers. He introduced himself to child twins as ‘Uncle Mengele’ and took them sweets, he was even referred to as ‘Mengele the Protector’ by some of his unsuspecting victims.
Most of the records kept by Mengele were lost or destroyed towards the end of the war so the full extent of his evil deeds will never be known. It is known however that during World War II, around 3,000 twins were to go to Auschwitz but only around 52 of them would make it out alive.
After the war, Mengele managed to escape Germany after receiving a false identity from unsuspecting Red Cross workers who supplied papers to thousands of refugees. He fled first to Argentina and then moved around South America in a bid to avoid capture and trial for his war crimes. Recently, claims have been made that he may have continued his genetic experiments, though in a humane manor, in Brazil in the 1960s. Scientists have been baffled for years as to why in a small town there, Candido Godoi, one in five pregnancies result in twins, most of whom have blond heir and blue eyes.
Residents claim that Mengele visited the town on many occasions offering medical treatment to women and treating them with new drugs. Going under the name of Rudolph Weiss, he also treated animals and is claimed to have got cattle to regularly produce twins. Typically twins are born in one in every eighty pregnancies so it appears that in Candido Godoi, Josef Mengele went some way to achieving his dream of creating what he believed was a master race.

“Definitely a special place for special occassions. It was expensive, but we came on a bloomspot deal which made it much more economical.
Many people have raved about the beef wellington and it is hands down, the best in NYC.
However every dish aside from the wellington was also executed perfectly”- said a customer.

Paul, the English octopus predicts German win!
about 1 year ago - No comments
Disastrous news for England fans ahead of the crunch last-16 match with Germany on Sunday: an octopus in Germany with a perfect track record of predicting World Cup matches has predicted a German win.
Two plastic boxes containing tasty morsels, one with a German flag and one with an England flag, were lowered into the tank that houses Paul the octopus at his home in Sea Life in Oberhausen, western Germany.
Paul immediately climbed into the German box to a huge roar of approval from the crowd.
Earlier in the tournament, the mollusc medium correctly predicted Germany would beat Ghana and Australia in their group D matches and was also right to predict they would lose to Serbia.
And the eight-legged oracle is also coming off a run of good form at major championships. He had an 80 per cent record for Germany games at the European Championships.
England fans have reason to feel somewhat betrayed by his latest prediction.
Paul should by rights be an England supporter, having been born at Sea Life in Weymouth on the south English coast.
